Judith, Bryan and Alex are baptized!

Image
Dear Friends and family, It was an incredible week. I saw my dear friends Judith, Bryan, and Alex, I consider them family now, enter the waters of baptism. I have seen the atonement heal, bless, confirm, and strengthen this young family. I'll always remember my days here and my time with them! I remember the first time we came into their home not too long after Christmas. Judith let us in right away, at the time she was dealing with some struggles with her son Bryan, with the hopes we could help her boys. Judith at the time had little interest but liked us coming by. After a couple weeks of relatively little progress with Judith or the boys, Judith came to church for 3 hrs and found some good friends, I think she really felt it in her heart that this was true that day, and when we had a lesson in a members home later that week and we asked her if she wanted to be baptized as a family she gave us a firm "Yes!" This leads us to the amazing baptism we had this week...

Baptismal date set for Judith

The Cocoa Puff Puds are being Very well received. Dear Family and Friends, YES! ha ha great week and an even greater week to come!  The progression of Judith this last week has been nothing short than a miracle. Last week she was thinking about being baptized after her boys and then  on Tuesday  during a lesson she changed her mind she wants to be baptized this  Saturday February 25 !  At the beginning of the lesson we read Mosiah 18...    8 And it came to pass that he said unto them: Behold, here are the waters of Mormon (for thus were they called) and now, as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;  9 Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until d...

The parable of the cookie-

Here's my update! I'll reply to all your great emails in a second! What a great week! A great time to be alive and be a missionary! We found a lot of new people this week including families, had many of our investigators come to Church, and what do you know I even had some fun doing it! Tracting with Elder Garcai Me personally I'm doing pretty great! It is simply incredible how much I learn here  in one day ! This week I've learned a little more about some major principles... Choosing to follow Christ and loving it. Last night we left a dinner at our Branch Presidents home with a plate of cookies in my hand for the other Elders and I. They had fed us pretty good so I didn't want to eat another cookie-I need to stay fit! However, the funny thing is, this cookie looked so good and I soon was caught in a dilemna of frustration being torn between 2 choices of eating or not eating the cookie.-Then it just clicked! This is a lot like Choosing to give all my h...

New companion- February

Image
Dear Friends and family, I have to be honest I've been complicating things unnecessarily and this has been driving me a little crazy:) Yesterday at Church we read the prophet's message and it said... A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. I've been obsessing a little bit on learning Spanish. I study very hard during our 1 hr and then before a couple of days ago I would try to force my mind to think in Spanish during the day. This only made it so I didn't talk to my companion as much as I should and also it made me focus more on something that is good but just not the best.  I've decided to bring it back down to the basics. 1=love God 2=love others... This is very basic but this is the core of what I(we) must do to live the way our Father wants us to live! With this new focus I know everything will fall int...

The fire hose- Brewster

Image
Dear friends and family, This week was like drinking from a fire hose-in a good way! I loved having zone conference and then the world wide missionary broadcast the very next day! I learned so many things but above all I learned so much about desire. Going away from zone conference I honestly came away with one big question "what do I want?" This week after some pretty deep thinking I came away with...I want to be happy with my family now and forever! How I do that is the real question,  but I have God  so I'm not worried! I know I need to become better to be the brother, son, husband, and Father my family needs/will need but I know as well that becoming is a process. We learned about this process so much in the broadcast! This process is called The Gospel of Jesus Christ. Elder Bednar emphasized how the Gospel isn't a series of check marks of 1.faith 2.repentance 3.baptism and receiving the holy ghost 4. enduring to the end it is a pathway where ...

Text from Brewster

Hello Sister Rigby!  This is Sister Schoenwald from Brewster Washington.  Your son is an amazing young man and missionary!  We have four boys and they ae a handful but Elder Rigby is always so great with them and helps entertain them!  Today was tic tac toe and coloring on paper plates while the other elders were giving a church tour.  We are so lucky to have him in our branch! I have wanted to ask for your number for some time now so I could text you and tell you how great he is.  There was one night that he was at our house for  dinner and our eldest son was being grumpy because and sad because he found out that my husband (who is the branch president) was going to leave right after dinner to go with the missionaries.  He came over to me with tears in his eyes saying how he was sad that dad was always gone.  I didn't think the elders had heard or saw what had taken place.  However, your son quietly walked over to Connor and told him ...

Dear Family and Friends! Successful week! we had our challenges-it's not a mission if you don't, and we overcame them! This week I focused on being more confident and direct in our door approaches. It worked pretty well, but I hear over and over "cualquier iglesia es buen-todo  es igual-es el mismo-soy catholico-otro dia(every church is good-it's all the same-I'm Catholic) It's very rarely that we find someone that's truly willing to listen. However, we did find some people that listen. Next week I plan to describe these people but since there is quite a few and they're only what you would call potentials I'll save it for another day. All I can say I know is that God is preparing people for us. I pray so hard everyday that he will give us the words, the faith, and the love in order to help these people come unto Christ. I know that many of these people that we share our message with may not listen/act, but there are are those out there that wil...
