This week I've learned so much. I've come to know what we do every
moment of the day decides not only how we feel and How much of the
Holy Ghost we have but also the ability we have to help others.
It is beyond crucial we constantly feed our souls with the word of God
because without it we will not be able to be fed with the love of God.
We will not be able to have the power to endure difficult times and
see through the eyes of God-we must have the eyes of God to have the
love that changes lives.

I invite you to join me as I try to make my scripture reading a time
of feasting where I can refuel my soul with love of God through
reading his word. I testify that the Book of Mormon is the greatest
tool we have in feeding our souls and to strengthen our ability to
make a difference. The plainess and power its pages possess and its
ability to heal the soul are without equal. There is no other way.
Today I will read Moroni 7. If you're looking for a good chapter, this
is a great place to read.
Friends from Cedar City
Elder Ben Gatherum and Elder Ryan Eberhard

I know Jesus Christ lives. His atonement is real. He can heal us and
help us In our desires to change if we reach out to him. Through his
blood we may be made clean. Heavenly Father listens to our prayers he
wants to hear from us. The Holy Ghost has become the greatest tool in
my life. I have come to know that he is real and by turning to Christ
we are given his power which increases our ability to act.
La Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los últimos Días has been
restored. This is my testimony in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

A review of the week

(8/7)

Testimony meeting
* Because we know The Book of Mormon is true we can know Joseph Smith
was a prophet and he saw all that he said he saw
* Look for God in the details
* When we try to do our best we receive the help of Angels
* We all work in the vineyard some plant the seeds and others prune
the limbs.'one without each other.
* I will not boast in my strength but I will boast about Gods strength
* There is power in the simple
* Blessed are those that humble themselves without being compelled to be humble
* Deny not the miracles deny not the power and the work of God
* I know they're people who need me and their are people maybe right
in front of us that need you
* Do we want to be changed, do we want to improve-if we come unto
Christ we can be changed
* In a world of darkness we are the light
* Go to serve and then invite others to come unto Christ

I bore a short testimony on how Christ lives and people are waiting
for us in the field. I also said "I pray that we can all prepare
enough so when that day comes that we are able to help them we will

Priesthood
* Priesthood today is about the Book of Mormon
    * We are commanded to feast upon the word of God
        * When we feast upon the word of God  it's just like any other
feast we have to prepare
            * Don't spend our time(feast) upon things of less
importance-make room
            * Pray and repent
                * Repent def: turn and live towards God, commit to be better
                * Have full confidence that we will be fed

Personal Study

* I've been focusing on the Character of Christ...
    * His character can be shown in others(ex. Nephi, Lehi, and other
people in the Book of Mormon) as well in Christ himself
* Today I've learned (2 Nephi 31)
    * That in efforts to turn outwards the character of Christ is/does...
        * Obedient-Christ was baptized despite being holy Nephi 31:5
        * Sets an example for others-encourages them to come unto
Christ through example
        * Follows Christ with full purpose of heart- do what he would
do,take upon his name
            * Love all men
            * Have a perfect brightness of hope in the promise that
through Christ all the things that are unfair about life will be made
right
        * Repenting of our sins-turning toward Christ and acknowledge
we want to do better
        * Rely wholly upon the merits of he who is mighty to save-the atonement

Devotional-Matthew Holland(son of Elder Holland) President of UVU

* Joseph Smith is the hinge of the restoration
    * Decide tonight to be a student of the life of Joseph Smith
        * You will bolster your strength against foes of the prophet
        * Have strength to press through tough days in the field
        * Your love and testimony of him will grow
        * It was a trail of tears, poverty, and pain to Palmyra for
the Smith Family.
            * Joseph still healing from his leg surgery had to be
carried through the snow, bleeding, to palmyra.
    * We must ALWAYS trust in the arm of God instead of the arm of man
        * Joseph lost the manuscript and was chastened by God
            * He did not make the same mistake again
    * It takes the arm of God to accomplish the will of God-we are
asked to trust in God-and we will blessed with the the opportunity to
witness the evidences of his  arm
    * Cherish Joseph and the Book of Mormon
Today we watched Ephraim's Rescue-a film about the Martin Handcart
Company-I was impressed with the feeling that those who I will go
teach are much like those saints still on the plains. Will I turn back
because the snow is too deep and I think no one is there to save...or
will I keep going like Ephraim who when he found the saints forgot all
about himself because he realized how much they needed him.

Today I was released as zone leader and I accidentally cut my finger
on a razor...I was bleeding everywhere good thing Elder Told, a friend
of mine in another district, wrapped me up.

Personal Study-2 Nephi 32
* What is the character of Christ?
    * To speak the words of Christ by the power of the Holy Ghost - to
be angels to others
        * Angels speak the words of Christ by the Holy Ghost
    * Seekers of what Christ would have us do - feast upon the words of God
    * Those that possess the character of Christ mourn the wrong
choices of others with godly sorrow - do not judge-v7
    * Those that have the character pray always to the father to align
their will with his
    * Those that have the character pray for those they love - A
perfect example is Nephi in 2 Nephi 33:3...
        * For I pray continually for them by day, and mine eyes water
my pillow by night, because of them; and I cry unto my God in faith,
and I know that he will hear my cry.
* How can speak with the power of the Holy Ghost
    * After we have received the Holy Ghost we are promised that we
can speak with the tongue of Angels-v2
    * Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost the words of Christ-v3
    * Feast upon the words of Christ...the words of Christ will tell
you all things which ye shall do-3
    * Hearken to the Holy Ghost - v8
    * Pray unto the lord before everything we will do
    * Hearken to the spirit--Pray always--feast upon the scriptures
This scripture spoke to me today...(2 Nephi 33:10,12)

10 And now, my beloved brethren, and also Jew, and all ye ends of the
earth, hearken unto these words and believe in Christ; and if ye
believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe
in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of
Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they teach all men that
they should do good.
12 And I pray the Father in the name of Christ that many of us, if not
all, may be saved in his kingdom at that great and last day

Thoughts
Today, we shared a message of faith with 2 of my
investigators-teachers-of faith and repentance. I came across this
scripture that I just loved (D&C:18:10-15)

10 Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God;
11 For, behold, the Lord your Redeemer suffered death in the flesh;
wherefore he suffered the pain of all men, that all men might repent
and come unto him.
12 And he hath risen again from the dead, that he might bring all men
unto him, on conditions of repentance.
13 And how great is his joy in the soul that repenteth!
14 Wherefore, you are called to cry repentance unto this people.

(8/9)

Personal study
* Are we keeping the commitments
    * Pray always
    * Feast upon the words of Christ
    * Repenting-turning back towards God
    * Etc...
* As we treasure up the words of Christ
    * We will be able to say and do in that exact hour what will need
to be said and done-to help others receive a witness of the Holy Ghost
* Speak and act from your heart and by the spirit
* Today I read Alma 18
    * I learned that it is important to focus on the needs of the
person we hope to help and the voice of the spirit because...
        * The spirit shows us to serve them
            * Our actions led by the spirit will soften hearts because
these actions begin to show others who Christ is and when we begin to
understand who Christ is we feel the spirit
        * The spirit lets us understand their heart-to see them how
God sees them
            * We will be able to say what needs to be said because we
will see them like God does
* Jacob 1-Personal reading time(v=what verse)
    * The greatest work we can ever do is to invite others to come
unto Christ...this can be done in countless ways - v7
    * When we come unto Christ...v8
        * believe in Christ, and view his death, and suffer his cross
and bear the shame of the world;
    * Today I felt impressed with the example of Jacob... Jacob, the
younger brother of Nephi, loved God and because he loved God he loved
and served the people in his reach with all he had. What struck me was
when his people began to be wicked he did not become angry, but his
soul grieved because of their wickedness.
        * When someone we know does something wrong we should not
judge them with a spirit of pride, but we should feel the sorrow God
has for them- I have experienced that as we align our will with his we
begin to see others in this light and my goodness it is so much more
pleasant-this is the Character of Christ
What to change/improve in my teaching-from reading Alma 18...how can I
help others to feel the spirit
* Follow up with questions that dig deeper
    * When I discover a true need then I teach
        *  And then ask more questions to see where they are
* How can I expect to help others to come to where we spiritually are
if I don't travel where they are through questions
* Ask questions awakening and softening the hearts of my investigator.
    * The investigator and I will begin to know where the investigator
is and what they need
    * They will begin to have a great desire to know what can help them
        * They will begin to ask questions to you vocally or in their hearts
        * Answer questions-(teach)/share testimony/share experience
            * Repeat-ask more questions
Tuesday Night Devotional-Elder Neil L Andersen/An apostle of Jesus Chrisr
Tonight before the devotional at choir practice the director told us
a story about how singing a song of Christ is oft times a good door
approach...sounds different but it is not a bad idea
* We started the evening by singing Happy Birthday

apostle of the lord Jesus Christ-D&C weather by my voice or the voice
of my servants it is the same
    * What the scriptures say about this latter day work

            * He compared finding people to hunting. The good ones are
their and it takes a special eye to see them-Dad I'd thought you'd
like to her this:)

    * He bore his testimony of the reality of Christ and how he is a
special witness that he lives. He followed by testifying that he will
come again crowned in great glory The spirit testified strongly to me
that his words are true and he is an apostle of Jesus Christ I have
never experienced anything quite like it in my life. I testify that
the Neil L Andersen is an apostle of God. I feel it in my soul. He
truly testified as a special witness that Christ lives. His words
carried the words of Christ I know this thought the Holy Ghost. For it
is by the power of the Holy Ghost that we may know the truth of all

My MTC district

Tonight as as every night this past week and a half, one person in our
district gets to share a scripture and then afterwards everyone gets a
chance to talk about the person. Today it was my turn.
I shared Alma 7:11-13

11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and
temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled
which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his
people.
12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of
death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their
infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to
the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his
people according to their infirmities.
13 Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God
suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins
of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according
to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony
which is in me.
14 Now I say unto you that ye must repent, and be born again; for the
Spirit saith if ye are not born again ye cannot inherit the kingdom of
heaven; therefore come and be baptized unto repentance, that ye may be
washed from your sins, that ye may have faith on the Lamb of God, who
taketh away the sins of the world, who is mighty to save and to
cleanse from all unrighteousness.

*I bore my testimony of how. Christ has suffered for me, and I believe
that there were brief moments where he suffered for us one by one and
in these moments he thought of us one by one. I believe that when he
thought of us he was reminded of his love for us and why he was doing
something more terrible then we can imagine.
We take this message to all men that Christ loves everyone of us and
because of this he has suffered for us all that we might find joy.

After they went around the room and talked about me (it was the most
tender thus far on my mission). I was extremely humbled because I knew
it was Christ's reflection through me that they were noticing.
They said things like how I can bring the spirit into the classroom
immediately. When they see me raise my hand, they know they will feel
the spirit. Largely they said how my example of obedience, diligent
study, sincerity and spiritual strength has blessed their time here
immensely. Elder ward said how I remind him of his father and how this
has blessed him when he misses his family.
I don't know what to say. It has never been me that has blessed
others. it has been Christ. My heart is full of gratitude that I was
able to witness first hand how Chrsit changes people to bless
others-he has changed me and through my own eyes I have seen him
working through me to bless others. I'm so humbled that Christ has
allowed me to be a portion of his hands.

I want to take some type me to talk about the elders in my district.
Don't worry there is a divider between us as to follow mission rules

Elder Mclaren
Elder Mclaren was in the trio with elder Ward and Elder Holmes. He is
f I'm Yuma Arizona. Elder Mclaren and I became great friends from the
very beginning because we both were "struggling" with the the
language. I think it's funny, because for heaven sakes it had been 3
days of trying to learn the language and we were frustrated because
others were progressing more quickly than us. I think it was due to
the fact that those first days seemed like an eternity. Elder Mclaren
has been such a pal to me. I've loved just talking to him about how
the MTC. It's so nice just to have a nice meaningful conversation with
someone. Elder Mclaren is so humble he's a perfect example of how we
should do our job without looking for credit.
Elder Holmes
Elder Holmes is the only one in our district that went to a year of
college. He is a scrawny, short elder with a strange but yet funny
sense of humor. Elder Holmes had a hard time for the first couple of
weeks but towards the end he really grew. The day that people shared
thoughts of me he was so tenderly kind thoughtful. He is searching for
who he is I hope he can find it.
Elder Ward
Elder Ward came into the mission while his family was struggling. His
sister was very ill and his family was struggling financially;
nevertheless, he demonstrated amazing faith which strengthened mine
and over the space of just four weeks it was amazing to see the
blessing his service gave to his family.
Elder Ward would always take time to ask me how I was doing. He is so
sincere. He also has a vision of the Old Testament that is
unparalleled.
Elder Bergman
Elder Bergman has been my pal since the beginning. Often times at
night when Elder Horsely and Elder Bonny are "roasting"/arguing with
each other during prayer time at 10:30 we just laugh with each other
continuing to wait patiently on our knees.
There was one time during the beginning of our time here at the MTC
when I was frustrated and he took the time to tell me how important I
am to him.
Elder Bergman can be really fun I love it when he saids," vamos a la
playa"---lets go to the beach
Elder Bonny
Elder Bonny is such a character! On the outside he seems pretty boring
but when he losses up he's hilarious. He sometimes cracks out his
British cooking judge voice when we need to be loosened up. Another
thing, he always has a roast for elder Horsely when he teases him too
much.
Elder Bonny comes from an interesting background. Both of his parents
are def and this has given him a compassion for others something I've
felt often when I'm having a rough day.

The devil is hitting me hard and over all I kind of feel like I'm just
in a strange world😂 This coming Tuesday I'm going to go to the
field...ill be a missionary and I'll be speaking Spanish. For
reals!!?!? What's going on?!?!? I feel like I'm still a highschool kid
and about to be fed to the wolves! I think it's hilarious! Today we
went to In field orientation and learned about such things like how
the doctrine of Christ effects members, how to find people, and how to
work with members.
I learned that everything I do from the moment I wake up to the moment
I go to bed will show for all to see for a good example that makes
them feel the love of Christ and the urge to come unto him or a poor
example that disappoints members and doesn't invite others to come to
Christ .
At the end of my mission I want...
To say I learned to follow Christ
I want to become at peace with my efforts of the past present and future
I want others to be able to look in my eyes and see Christ.
At the end of my mission I want to be able to say I am a disciple of
Jesus Christ.
He is the light and the life
