3rd week in the field

Image
This is Elder Sanchez.  He is from Mexico- super humble.  I have much to learn! Hello Everyone! I'm off to the third week in the field! My mom asked some good questions so I'll start off with those.. The Spanish It's quite difficult because we room with 2 English speaking missionaries and half of the people we talk to from the Branch and the area speak English. But President Hinckley made the promise that if we read the Book of Mormon in our mission language we will become fluent! Why don't they tell everyone this from day 1? I don't know but all I can say is that I am reading el Libro De Mormon todos los dias-all the time! My apartment WE MOVED! We now have a nice fridge and live in a town home with another group of Elders, Elder Saitman an Elder Olson. These Elders are quite interesting...but I love them to death. Elder Olson's Father actually passed away a month or two ago. He went back home for the funeral and is now back in the mission. I&

Welcome to Moses Lake

Image
Hello! This is Elder Rigby. I'm serving in the Northern portion of a desolate place called Moses Lake, Washington. I have been called to invite all those within my reach to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the end. arriving in Moses Lake This has been a very interesting week we flew from Salt Lake to Seattle and then from Seattle to Yakima. After arriving in Yakima, I spent a brief day enjoying good food, spending some short one on one time with my mission president, saying some good byes to Elder Horsley, Bergman, and Bonny, and then being assigned and sent off to the great place called Moses Lake. Saying good bye to Elder Horsely The Gift of tongues is real. I love getting to know the people. They are so willing to let this white young, strangely dressed boy into their home that they can't communicate with. I love t

A text from Moses Lake

"We loved having Elder Rigby and Elder Sanchez over for dinner today.  He is doing well and is so happy.  We appreciate his friendly personality and his love for missionary work."   This text came from the Bergeson family in Washington- they will forever have a special place in my heart. #feedthemissionaries,  #Ilovetechnology This text was very much an answer to prayer.  We were extremely anxious to know where Elder Rigby was and the name of his new companion.   An of course I immediately googled Moses Lake to learn all about his first area as a "greenie" missionary.  Moses Lake has a population of 20,000 (10,000 less than Cedar City) 25% hispanic. July is the hottest month with temperatures reaching the high 80's.  In the winter temperatures reach of low of 20 degrees.  The coldest month is January and the wettest month is December. Historically the economic base of Moses Lake has been agriculture but now it includes manufacturing and technology. T

Dear Missionary Family, We are delighted to report that your missionary has arrived safely to the Washington Yakima Mission.  We already love them and are excited to serve with them.  We are confident that they will become an effective instrument in the hands of the Lord in sharing the gospel with the people of Washington and Oregon. We have assigned them a companion who is an experienced, devoted, and motivated missionary.  All of our missionaries understand that one of the greatest privileges available in the mission is to train a new missionary.  This first companion will be a special person in your missionary’s life and will help give them a great start here. We feel that our greatest responsibility is the care and welfare of your child.  We want to assure you that we will be in regular contact with them and will be observant of their physical health, happiness and spiritual well-being.  We will work closely with them throughout their mission to help them succeed an
