We've seen miracles this week! I'm excited to share them with you!

INVESTIGATORS

Rosi and her kids(Diego, Allison, and Nicole)

We had a fantastic week teaching Rosi the commandments(10 commandments, Word of Wisdom, and Follow the Prophet) She is getting great fellowship from the ward. She is doing very well on reading the Book of Mormon. Every lesson she asks questions of what she has read. She continues to pray and she is becoming converted. I can just see it in her eyes. It's the most beautiful thing. However, she is facing some major challenges. She works at a smaller hotel with around 40 rooms. Her Co-workers make fun of her and ask her religion based questions to catch in her words even her once dearest friends. During the summer Hood River is full of tourists especially on the weekends. She was supposed to be able to go to Church on Sunday but was called into work. She gave her boss a letter, written by the bishop, that describes she wants to go to church; nevertheless, she has not been able to go regularly. This will become a matter of prayer for Elder Najarian and I. There baptisimal date is July 8

Lesli and Evelyn

Lesli(17) and Evelyn (13) have been the miracle for this week. As I have stated before we found Lesli tracting and have in the past weeks shared a video of Christ and the Restoration message/Book of Mormon with her at her door step. This last week we had some amazing experiences with her and her younger sister Evelyn. Lesli is friends with a young woman in our ward named Jordan.  Jordan actually gave Lesli a tour of middle school when Lesli moved to hood river. Jordan and her father Bro. Ziegner came to a lesson with us where we shared the message of the restoration with them and invited them to read the Book of Mormon. Brother Ziegner was able to describe how the missionaries found him when he was a young man in Peru and how the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has Changed his life. Also Jordan was able to describe how she has felt the holy ghost tell her the Book of Mormon is true. I came to feel for myself one point during the lesson how amazing it would've have been to be at Christs feet and see him as he blessed the children and prayed for us. Members are the key we have to get strong members with our investigators. We also later that week had a lesson at the Church. They had an amazing church tour and accepted a baptismal date of July 15.
They however did not follow through and come to church. Lesli does work long hours in the heat of the day in the Orchards but we simply must strengthen their faith.

Jenifer

Jenifer is the single mom who's husband recently left her and her 8 month old boy. Turns out he came back. I don't know what to say about that. We were able to sit down and have a great lesson with her of the restoration. We were able to be very real and express simply that Jesus is the Christ and his path, which heals families, has been restored to the Earth. We invited her to Read the Book of Mormon and she has chosen that she will be baptized when she knows it's true. The challenges she faces of being able to come to church are.. She has a 6 year old daughter that is highly disabled and lives in a home with another family, She is also caring for her disabled father in their home, and she worries very much about her 8 month old boy. We will see here later this week. She is truly searching for help and if she has enough faith to give time for the Book of Mormon she will be changed.

Will

Will is the 21 year old who recently was married. We were unable to go to the reception but gave him a gift. Because of his marriage we only saw him once this week. He is following through with his reading assignments. Will is very hard to read and does not show much expression. It is difficult to gauge if he really wants to be baptized. He has all the right answers but we don't know if he really means it. He did grow up in several foster homes and this definitely plays a large role in how he behaves. He may be slightly autistic. Honestly don't really know what to do with him. We are going to get him a friend from the ward and hopefully that will help.

Enrique

We found a man named Enrique and shared the message of the restoration with him he is the father of 2 young boys Kris and Orlando. He is a kind family guy! He is going to read the resto. pamphlet and wants to be baptized we simply must teach him more, help him act for himself, and get him a friend.

Bridget

We shared the message of the plan of salvation with a younger single mom named bridget and her two kids taylor-8 and Rider-12. Rider said he felt something speacial and she is truly interested

Bro. McClay
Our former FBI agent friend/non-member is married to very active Sister McClay. We continue to do service every week with them and they continue to come to Church. We asked why he has not been baptized. Response... Complacency. We will continue work on him! we are becoming true friends. I love him

Lyn Spellman
We followed Elder Anderson's words to go and find the LA's and ran into Lyn Spellman. We brought a member with us that shared the common interests of Barber Shop with him and they became friends. The member friend that came with us, Bro. Adkins said he would only come to the Barber shop rehearsals if Lyn came to sacrament again. It's going well!

We are constantly trying by formers and visiting Less actives and Part member families. Most of our time goes to simply tracting. Elder Najarian and I are becoming more of a team and we see the fruit of our faith in action through the people we find and also the progress of our investigators.
This week we were able to get one young man with us and help solidify him on his desire to serve a mission.-Jayce Grant

Next we have felt that there has been a lack of conversion in the members. We believe this can be counteracted in 2 ways. Powerful sacrament meetings based on Jesus Christ and home teaching. We brought up these 2 concerns and now will be joining our forces(us, ward mission leader, and ward missionaries) to go out with elders to help the ward be reminded of the basics.
We have been fasting every Sunday and we always see great miracles. Not because we are great but because God is.

God has been blessing me with a change of perspective. All my life I have thought of my personal worth by what I do. If I do this then I am this.
Thanks to the words of my companion and the Holy Ghost I have come to learn this...
God is my Father. Because I am his Son through him I can do all things. Because I am- I can.
This brings so much peace to my soul. I also love reading Elder Nielson's talk from this past conference. Because Jesus is the Christ, power is available to all of us to make us free. By learning of Christ I can begin to access this power. Isn't that great!

Have a great week!
Love,
Elder Rigby
