Mail Monday from mi hijo

Seleck with his missionary tag and the first letter he sent to us in the mail.



We received a short email from Seleck on Saturday ( his P day) with the above picture.  It said " I wish I had more time reply.  Love you mom. Thanks for the email.  Tell dad I love him so much and I am so grateful for his letter."

1 lap down- setting a good pace

Oh my goodness this week was fantastic! For me personally I feel like I'm beginning to catch the vision! It's very easy to get into just doing the motions but not really realizing what we are doing as missionaries. Lately I've been thinking a lot about what a big deal it is for people when we knock on their door. We do the hour of tracting a day or even more sometimes and everyday I've been meeting, for the most part, very kind people who have great families. Elder Nelson and I have done a pretty good job at speaking with these people, getting to know them, sharing briefs statements of restored truths, and then inviting them to do something, but when we ask when we can come back they just don't commit. This saddens me because the more I think of it, the decision they make to not invite us back is like me choosing not to come on a mission-disastrous. 2 months in the field

Thanks grandma Rigby- a nice big burrito to celebrate 2 months in the field! Dear Family and Friends,   Wow this has been the shortest week of the mission! Which means I'm being caught more up in the work-loosing myself! Personally, besides a little head cold I am soooo great right now! Recently I've been caught up in Alma 32-34 there is so much to learn from these Chapters! I personally learned after a week of study that we must humble ourselves and look to Christ. by doing this, we will come to know him and the burdens upon our backs will be made light through joy in him and we will receive eternal life. We must believe that he is the Savior of the World. We must have hope that if we follow him he will set us free. We follow him by repenting of our sins and enduring to the end(live the doctrine of Christ). It is hard, but we are only asked to begin to believe, plant the seed- look unto Christ. Coming Home

  It wasn't Paris, or Zimbabwe, or Portugal- it was Yakima, Washington and to our family it is sacred ground.  Ground that we sent our brother and son to... for two years.  Our other four grew up while Seleck was gone-some of it was pretty tough.  Looking back now, it was worth it. And I am pretty certain we had angels watching over us for those two years.   We arrived at the mission home at 8:30 am on June 19th- a day we had been counting down to for quite sometime.  What a reunion it was!  President and Sister Lewis served us an amazing breakfast- thank you!  We enjoyed visiting with the other Elders who would soon be joining their families across the United States.   For the next four days, we visited, hugged, laughed, and shared so much with the people Seleck served and served with--- there are so many ways to be a missionary- just ask the Schonwald family in Bridgeport, Washington or Brother and Sister Lott i...
